Frontline Plus for Cats Active Ingredients
The active ingredients in Frontline Plus for Cats are 9.8% fipronil and 11.8% (s)-methoprene. All of the generic alternatives listed below contain the same active ingredients and in the same concentrations. For full details, compare the product label of Frontline Plus to the generics’ labels (linked below).
Fipronil is an adulticide that will rapidly kill adult fleas on the treated cat. (s)-methoprene (also called Precor) is an insect growth regulator (IGR). It mimics natural insect hormones that regulate development. IGR-exposed flea eggs and larvae can’t mature, and exposed adult females can’t lay eggs.
