Wash Fleas Off Dogs
Once on a dog, adult fleas will remain there. They are permanent ectoparasites and won’t leave hosts unless they are dislodged or die. They require regular blood meals to survive and reproduce.
An effective flea shampoo for dogs will contain an adulticide and an insect growth regulator (IGR). The adulticide (pyrethrins) will kill adult fleas on the dog. The IGR (methoprene) in the soap will cause eggs to become non-viable and will prevent larval from developing.
