We’ve had fleas in the home we moved into since August. We cant get rid of them. We’ve treated 10+ times and replaced $4000 worth of carpet, and put new laminate over the existing hardwood. Our dog has been sent away for two months just in case, even though he is treated with Vectra monthly. Why are we still seeing them? There is nothing in our crawl or attic and we have no other pets. And we live in the UP of Michigan so its been -10 all winter long. We put all of our furniture in the garage for a month because we read they cant live in that cold of weather at any stage. I sealed the top and bottom of every baseboard in our house. I just dont understand why they’re not going away! 🙁 I read your site every month because I keep trying to find the magic answer, but it seems nobody ever has it this bad. I am an OCD cleaner who has been vaccuming every day for EIGHT MONTHS. I cant take anymore, and Im pregnant so I can’t spray anything else.

I’m having the exact same problem! Did you find anything that works?

bstabie,

I am sorry to hear about your severe flea problem. It sounds like the steps you’ve taken should have resolved the issue (especially if you treated your dog with Vectra and sprayed an insect growth regulator in the environment). Unfortunately, in odd situations like these, I can’t provide much help from behind a screen. I think you need someone to assess the problem in person. I would recommend hiring a professional pest control company to come take a look. Have them identify the flea species, the host, and the habitat of the immature stages, and then recommend courses of action.

I am sorry I can’t assist further with your problem. When you find a resolution to your problem, please return and share your experience so others may benefit.

Adam
