Hello there,
Hens, and other poultry, won’t carry “cat fleas” (Ctenocephalides felis). However, there is a flea species that mainly parasitizes ground birds, and that will occasionally be found on cats and dogs.
“Poultry sticktight flea” or “hen flea” are the common names for Echidnophaga gallinacea. This species is found worldwide in temperate and semitropical regions. However, infestations on pets usually only occur in warmer areas, such as the southeastern United States (Florida and Georgia).
