I am thlnking of trying a pill that repells fleas. It is called ,Flea Away and is sold on a site called , chewy.com , The site claims that it is a livor flavored pill for cats and dogs tha has ingredients that benefits the cat and is essentially a vitamin pill. It repells fleas because the fleas can smell the animals ski and fleas dont like i the smell. . This happens after the cat ingests the pill. It claims the fleas smell the CO2. The active ingredients in the pill is are brewers yeast, calcium carbonate, folic acid, niacin, pyrodoxin, it also secondary contains, beef liver, niacin, silica, magnesium, cellulose and stearic acid . Should i try this in your opinion?
Hello Pierrette Tays,
I haven’t researched much into the effect of nutritional supplements and vitamins on fleas. Flea Away doesn’t contain any flea-killing active ingredient.
The pills may work, but I think the claims are dubious. Especially the claims regarding fleas being repelled by smell and CO2. There’s no scientific evidence of this being true in any literature I’ve come across. In fact, CO2 has been seen to cause a slight attraction response.
I’m guessing the manufacturer is trying to exploit pet-owners’ desires for natural flea solutions.
To summarize, the pills could work, but I have doubts. Reading product reviews on Chewy and Amazon further increase my skepticism.
Hope this helps,
Adam
