I can't get rid of the fleas

QuestionsCategory: Flea InfestationsI can't get rid of the fleas

It’s been 2 years.  I’ve tried every preventative, almost every pesticide, I vacuum, I shampoo the carpet, and soon I’ll have a steamer that heats to 212 degrees to use.  It’s -42 degrees outside and I still can’t get rid of the fleas in the house.  I’ve cleaned every corner, sprayed everything we own multiple times.  We wash all the laundry on hot, run two dry cycles on each load.  I put preventative on a week early every month to prevent reinfestation, but they still won’t go.  I’ve used the pesticides the exterminators use, I’ve bombed, I’ve used DE and borax, and salt, and essential oils.  I’ve used every conceivable method and short of burning the house down, I’m out of ideas.  It’s been 2 years.

Kait,

I am sorry to hear about your frustrating flea issues. Your case sounds uncommon, and thus probably needs an in-person evaluation of the home. An expert can assess the source, host, and environmental habitat of the fleas, as well as provide insight on how the pests could possibly survive all the control measures you’ve employed. Unfortunately, I can’t offer much assistance from behind a computer screen. I’d recommend contacting a professional pest control company with an excellent reputation, or perhaps even consulting with a local entomologist.

Warm regards,
Adam
