im desperate for some advice!
I was living in a house with two cats who had fleas and the owner wasn’t very proactive or reactive about the situation. Out of four of us living in the house, I was the only one getting bites. However, after couple treatments for the pets, it seemed like the problem was solved. Fast forward couple months, the two cats moved out. After they had left I started getting bites again in my sleep around my legs and ankles and sometimes on my butt cheeks. I washed my sheets and vacuumed thoroughly but I still kept getting bites. I decided to throw my mattress and box spring away, worried it may be bed bugs (although I saw no signs of them).
It has been about two months now since I have moved out and and about a month since I moved into a new apartment with a new mattress and I am still getting bitten. We do not have pets anymore and I have washed my sheets about 7 times now. Is it possible I still have fleas? I don’t see any droppings or signs of them anywhere around the house or my bed. Also my partner does not get any bites at all even though he sleeps in the same bed as me. Help! Can’t stand the itchyness anymore!

Vik,

This doesn’t sound like fleas, but it may be. It is unlikely that fleas transferred homes with you, especially without pets in the new home. If you are getting so many bites, I would think that you would be seeing the culprit pest. Have you not seen anything bite you? Perhaps purchase a flea trap to see what you catch.

Without knowing what the pest is, which is done find finding the adult insect, then treating the problem is difficult.
