Bayer lying about Advantage II dosages?

QuestionsCategory: Flea Control ProductsBayer lying about Advantage II dosages?

I bought Advantage II for EXTRA-LARGE dogs (over 55lbs) to use on my large cat for the first time, and it says clearly on the package that the doses are 4ml. But when I poured it into my syringe to divide the doses down to .8ml, I saw that there is only 2.5ml in the tube, which is the dosage for Large dogs only (under 55 lbs).

For my cat, I can just redo the math and it’s only 3 doses instead of 5. If Bayer has been skimming doses all along and in all product lines, is she getting a larger dose than she’s ever had before? Do I need to ease her in to it?

Could this be the reason that fleas are becoming super fleas around here, very resistant to flea medicine? Because owners don’t know they are giving their pets only 2/3 of a dose? Do you know how long this has been happening? Is there anything to be done concerning Bayer?

Hi! I work in vet med, and I can tell you that with products regulated by the EPA, the label is the law. When Bayer submitted the formulation for each size/species to the EPA for consideration and safety testing it was approved as such. Any deviation is against Federal Law. Even your vet can’t make the recommendation to apply a product off label, as they could lose their license. You could call Bayer Consumer Affairs to find out the specifics, but I do not think they are scamming you.

Mishqueen,

I am sorry, but I am not going to answer any questions related to off-label use of insecticides. Doing so would put me in legal risk. Using such products in a way that deviates from the label is against the law.

However, I will leave the question open for discussion.

Adam
